Innate Immunity: Unfolding the Neuro-Immuno Connections
نویسنده
چکیده
The innate immune system maintains health and fitness during infection by eliminating infectious agents and by limiting damage caused by pathogens or immune activation. The nervous system contributes to innate immunity by modulating the expression of antimicrobial peptides and by regulating the unfolded protein response.

Microbial Immuno-Communication in Neurodegenerative Diseases
Neuro-inflammation is a critical process by which the brain coordinates chemokine-regulated cellular recruitment, cytokine release, and cell-mediated removal of pathogenic material to protect against infection or brain injury. Dysregulation of this immune response is involved in multiple neurodegenerative disorders, however the precise contribution of neuro-inflammation to the exacerbation and ...
متن کاملThe Role of Zataria Multiflora Essence (Iranian herb) on Innate Immunity of Animal Model
Background: Herbal medicines have been used since ancient times for treatment of a range of diseases and have represented stimulatory effects on the function of innate immunity. Objective: To evaluate the effects of Zataria multiflora (Z. multiflora) on the function of innate immunity including phagocytic activity and TNF-α secretion in animal model. Methods: Eight BALB/c mice were divided int...
متن کاملThe innate immunity changes of the female anadromous hilsa shad, Tenualosa ilisha , during spawning and post spawning season
Tenualosa ilisha (Hamilton) is a valuable migratory fish belonging to the family Clupeidae and it is distributed in a wide area from the Persian Gulf to coasts of Pakistan and China’s southern sea. The aim of the present study was to investigate the changes occurring in innate immunity parameters during upstream migration and comparing them to those during post spawning. Sixty mature female hil...
متن کاملInvolvement of Innate and Adaptive Immunity in Parkinson’s Disease
Central nervous system (CNS) was considered as an “immunologically privileged site”. However, accumulating evidence supports a role for neuro inflammation in progress in Parkinson’s disease (PD). Not only the activated resident microglia in brains, cytokine levels in CNS and blood, the presence of auto antibodies, and the infiltration of T-cell in CNS also contribute disease progression. The in...
متن کاملPhytol-Derived Novel Isoprenoid Immunostimulants
This review describes the adjuvanticity of novel diterpenoids (synthetic phytol derivatives) compared to some commercially available adjuvants. The efficacy of the phytol-derived immunostimulants was evaluated in terms of their ability to activate innate immunity, amplify various antigen-specific immune responses, and engender immunological memory with no discernible adverse effects in both com...
